It’s a made up Yokai based on a goblin shark. I never knew these sharks’s namesake is based on Tengu being translated as goblin in English. 

Since Tengu practice Asceticism, this oceanic Tengu’s traits are pretty much set. These rarely seen yokai dwell beneath the ocean.They only come up to the surface to meet their mountain dwelling counterparts, perhaps to exchange knowledge and compare findings? They either use rivers and estuaries as a pathways to remote mountains. It takes time to complete these visits, so whatever it is they found, it must be worth the journey from the deep sea to the high mountains. Who knows what might be hiding down there?
